French first class cruiser. History and photographs of the
French protected cruiser Chateaurenault, built at Le Seyne at a
cost of 19,302,000 francs (£606,000) Chateaurenault was
laid down in may 1896, launched in 1898. and completed in
1902. At the outbreak of world war one she served with the 2nd
Light cruiser squadron until 1915 in the Mediterranean fleet. except
during February 196 when in search of the German raider Mowe she went to
the south Atlantic. she was torpedoed and sunk off Cephalonia by
two torpedoes form UC38. luckily with very few losses. she was at the
time carrying troops. ( UC38 was sunk soon after by French Destroyer
Lansuenet )
Guichen A Protégé le Croiseur. Les photos et l'histoire du français ont protégé Guichen de croiseur, construit par Soc De la Loire et ont déposé le 1895 octobre et lancé dans 1897. et complété pour le service en 1899. Le Guichen avait été principalement conçu pour le commerce d'attaque et avait été légèrement armé en comparaison des autres bateaux de sa taille. Les photographies montreront Guichen avec ou deux ou trois mâts. Elle a été construite avec deux mais un tiers a été ajouté pour trois à quatre années alors enlevé encore. A l'éruption de guerre de monde un elle servait avec la flotte de Chaîne dans la Baie de |Biscay et a transféré à Maroc. En septembre 1915 elle a pris la partie dans le secours arménien, et dans 1917 elle est devenue un transport rapide fonctionnant Taranto - la route de Hea. Dans 1919 elle sert le vacarme les opérations de Mer Noires. et finalement frappé du service en 1922. Displacement: 7898 tons. Speed: 24 knots, Compliment: 604 crew. Armament: Two 6.4-inch Guns Quick Firing M1893. Six 5.5 -inch Guns, Quick Firing M1893 Ten 3 pounder and Five 1 pounder |
